Deep Summer Academy 2018: Design, Build, Fly

For the past few days, I was delivering the course "A Mission to Mars" for the second time as part for DEEP Summer Academy. In this course, after reviewing the basics of the engineering design process, the students were tasked to:

• Design a parachute to a set of requirements and test it using a set of accelerometers to show they meet the requirements

• Build a lighter than air vehicle meeting specific requirements, and capable of both going straight and turning

• Build a hovercraft using the equipment capable of going straight and turning

Despite some failures in our electronic equipment, we did get some working vehicles.....and had some fun as well!

And that, is how my DEEP experience ended this year! Time to start preparing for the next one!
